Pismo Der Bibelfreund, eine theologische Wochenschrift było protestanckim, teologicznym tygodnikiem adresowanym dla osób świeckich, powołanym do życia w 1770 roku przez ewangelicko-luterańskiego teologa Gabriela Christopha Benjamina Mosche (1723-1791). Odebrawszy dogłębne, wykształcenie (ukończył gimnazjum w Gotha i studia w Jenie a w roku 1773 uzyskał na uniwersytecie w Getyndze tytuł doktora teologii) od 1759 był superintendentem w Arnstadt. Wprowadził on szereg reform w konserwatywnym kościele frankfurckim, który przestrzegał ścisłej luterańskiej ortodoksji, w tym uproszczony porządek kultu i nową księgę hymnów (1783). Wydawane przez niego czasopismo, stawiało sobie za cel przybliżenie świeckim członkom wspólnoty kościelnej idei przeprowadzonych przez niego reform. Biblioteka Elbląska dysponuje egzemplarzami czasopisma z lat 1770-1773 oraz 1778-1779.
