Dzieło chojnickiego burmistrza Isaak Gottfried Gödtke (1691-1765) poświecone historii życia religijnego mieszkańców mniejszych miejscowości Prus Królewskich (nazywanych przez autora Prusami Polskimi). Autor pochodził z zamożnej rodziny (był synem pastora Christiana Gödtke i Elisabeth córki burmistrza Chojnic M. Wilkego) dzięki czemu odbyć mógł dokładne studia najpierw gimnazjach Torunia i Gdańska a następnie w Królewcu, Lipsku i Wittenberdze. Po powrocie do ojczystego miasta piął się na szczeblach miejskiej kariery a w 1742 został wybrany na stanowisko burmistrza. Zainteresowania teologiczne i wyniesiony podczas studiów warsztat umożliwiły mu napisanie tego traktatu. W którym koncentrował się na opisaniu małych miast i powstał w zarówno w oparciu o szeroką bibliotekę autora (obejmującą traktaty prawnicze, religijne i historyczne) jak i o dokumenty do jakich autor miał dostęp przy wykonywaniu pracy notariusza i pracownika magistratu miejskiego. Wśród miejscowości nad jakimi pochylił się autor występowały m.in. Baldenberg (Biały Bór), Freidland (Frydland, obecnie Prawdinsk w obwodzie Kaliningradzkim) czy Hammerstein (dawniej Hamersztyn a dziś Czarne).
