Die Machtübernahme 1933 und Tätigkeit Erich Kochs erleichterten die Entwicklung der Nazipresse in Elbing. „Wahlkampf“ sah sehr unscheinbar aus und war eher ein Wahlkampfbulletin als eine richtige Zeitung. Seit Mai 1932 wurde der Titel in „Befehl“ verwandelt. Die Zeitung war imstande die Auflage von 12000 Exemplaren zu erreichen.
